Overview

STEP is a new transportation equity pilot that aims to address community residents’ transportation needs, increase access to key destinations, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by funding planning, clean transportation, and supporting projects. STEP currently has up to $2 million available from Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-2020 Low Carbon Transportation Investments to help disadvantaged and low-income communities identify residents’ transportation needs and prepare them to implement clean transportation and supporting projects. Based on environmental justice principles, STEP funds projects that are priorities for historically under-served and over-burdened residents by requiring that projects center the knowledge and expertise of residents through all phases of project design, implementation...
