Geography PRC § 75029 requires that funds will be available for eligible projects that improve water quality in the Delta, the San Joaquin River, and the Sacramento River. DWR interprets this to mean the legal Delta, the San Joaquin River and tributary watershed downstream of major dams, and the Sacramento River and tributary watershed downstream of major dams.

Overview

This Grant Program provides funding for implementation projects that will improve water quality in the San Joaquin River and the Delta. The program targets subsurface agricultural drainage water from the west side of the San Joaquin Valley, an area of primary concern for protecting the water quality of the San Joaquin River. The funding disbursed through this Grant Program is intended to support projects that will result in direct, measurable water quality improvements to the San Joaquin River by reducing or eliminating discharges of subsurface agricultural drainage.
