Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) program
Overview
Funds can be used for acquisition and/or development projects to create new parks or substantially improve public parks in economically disadvantaged communities, within incorporated cities and towns with a population of at least 30,000. Projects must create new outdoor recreation opportunities. Up to $15 million may be requested per application. ORLP Program is a federal National Park Service (NPS) grant program. ORLP involves two competitive layers. First the California Department of Parks and Recreation's Office of Grants and Local Services (OGALS) competitively reviews applications. Second, OGALS forwards selected applications to NPS to compete in the nationwide competition. California's initial application requirements are explained at www.parks.ca.gov/orlp
