Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Grant Program
Overview
This bill requires funding competitive grants to counties, and require counties receiving grants to use these funds for various purposes relating to the treatment of substance use disorders and the provision of medication-assisted treatment. Per authorizing statute, “Medication-Assisted Treatment” (MAT) means the use of any United States Food and Drug Administration-approved medically assisted therapy to treat a substance use disorder, including opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder, and that, whenever possible, is provided through a program licensed or certified by the State Department of Health Care Services.
