Overview

Authorized by Section 203 of the Stafford Act, Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) will support states, local communities, tribes and territories as they undertake hazard mitigation projects, reducing the risks they face from disasters and natural hazards. FMA is authorized by Section1366 of the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968, as amended (NFIA), 42 U.S.C. 4104c, with the goal of reducing or eliminating claims. BRIC aims to implement projects that reduce risks posed by natural hazards to reduce future losses, by funding priority projects and activities. Priorities include risk reduction of both acute events and chronic stressors, driven by climate change, which are either observed or expected.
