Overview

The purpose of the Minor’s Counsel Program is to support the courts by appointing a minor’s counsel in child custody cases involving child abuse, neglect, or exploitation, and to determine if the appointment of minor’s counsel improves the criminal justice system’s response to these cases. ELIGIBILITY 1. To be eligible to receive funds, the Applicant must be a California Superior Court with a Family Court Services Program with no more than three to four judges. The Applicant must submit a letter, signed by the Court Executive Officer, certifying the number of judges working in the Family Court Services Program and confirming the judges will complete a survey, post resolution of the case, for all cases in which a minor’s counsel is appointed. 2.
